2012_pinewood derby rules

We invite each Scout and their families to join us in this celebration!  Blue and Gold will be held on Sunday, March 11th from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Portico at St John’s Catholic Church (43 Monroe St Westminster, MD  21157).

Please collect your Den’s completed forms and checks (made out to  Pack 791–see prices on the form) and plan to deliver to Michael Geiman at the November 18 Pack meeting.  We need to turn in forms and money to District shortly after.

DATE:  TBD Sunday, October 30 at 2:00 PM.

WHERE: We will be meeting at the Masemore Road Parking Lot of Gunpowder Falls State Park

DIRECTIONS:

• Take Lower Beckleysville East off of Main Street in Hampstead
• Follow to Mount Carmel Road, turn right on Mount Carmel Road
• Just prior to Route 83, make left onto Masemore Road
• Follow on Masemore Road , just past the Old Mill, the parking lot will be on the right, located beforethe bridge over the Gunpowder River
• The parking lot is between the old mill and the bridge on the right hand side

DESCRIPTION:

· The hike will be a moderate hike.  Approximately 2.8 miles circuit hike. The trail is generally level following the riverbank, sections do require agility to scramble over large boulders and rough terrain. There is an incline on the return trip which is fairly short in duration after which the path levels off and is downhill from there.

SUGGESTIONS:

• Wear appropriate shoes. The terrain is dirt, mud, fallen leaves, roots, and rocks
• Wear appropriate clothing depending on the weather
• Wear wool or poly-blend socks – Try to avoid Cotton
• BRING WATER
• Bring a light pack to carry water and snacks – kids love snacks!!!

It is time for one of the most beloved events in Pack791! We are looking this year to help making the event even more action packed by forming the first ever, Trunk or Treat Candy Gauntlet*.

How it works:

Parking:  We sectioned off the parking lot to form a single column, with cars, parked trunkwards in.  Dens are highly encouraged to park together. Please arrive a few minutes earlier than normal so we can get everyone in.  We may have to change the location based on some construction work being done.  We will make the adjustment on Friday.

Parking Goblins will be assigned to help you park your car.

Spooky Trunks:  Trunks and or parents are highly encouraged to decorate their cars.  Scary music, scary sounds, and good candy are a must.  Parents dressing up is certainly welcome too.  :- )

Staggered Starts: Starting with the youngest scouts, we will release the scouts by den to keep the flow of scouts somewhat smooth.

Scout Flow: Ideally, we will be able to move in a clockwise motion, but we will see if that happens.

*Please don’t worry, this will be much more fun than a real  gauntlet.

Includes breakfast, lunch, dinner,and snacks for entire weekend.

All activities are planned and included.

Every scout must have a parent with him.
